About the Artist
Hello!
I’m Betty Brown, a 31 year old freelance illustrator and photographer from the midlands (UK).
I’ve been illustrating since the tender age of 5, you could almost always find me at the dining room table either drawing fairies or my favourite characters from a Cartoon Network magazine.
I studied Art & Design in college before Graduating with a HND in photography & digital imaging in 2011.
I set up my first freelance business as a wedding & portrait photographer in 2013, while still practicing my illustration skills in my spare time. By 2020 my illustration was a full time business and has flourished ever since.
I enjoy illustrating characters from pop culture as well as character design and portraiture, but I also like to incorporate my interests into my pieces, including astronomy, fantasy, mythology and a strong theme of body positivity and inclusion, sex positivity and social justice issues.
In my spare time you can usually catch me playing on my switch (Zelda nerd over here!) reading sci-if novels, or catching up on my favourite shows.
The body parts project started in March 2020 as a way to create quick but poignant pieces boasting messages of body positivity, self acceptance and social awareness. The project is still ongoing, but with a slightly new look.
